A veneer deposit: clarify cancellation terms before paying
Before paying a veneer deposit, clarify what the payment reserves and which written cancellation terms apply. A payment receipt and clinical consent answer different questions. Paying to hold a date does not establish that the dentist has completed assessment or that every proposed procedure is suitable for you.

Ask what the payment commits you to
Clarify whether the sum relates to consultation, appointment reservation, laboratory work or a defined treatment stage. Ask when cancellation or rescheduling changes the amount retained and how the provider confirms receipt of a request. Do not rely on a salesperson’s summary if the written terms differ or are missing. Request the applicable policy before payment and keep its date and the organisation receiving the funds.

Keep suitability and consent separate
Ask what happens administratively if examination changes the plan or the dentist advises against veneers. Separately discuss options, risks and the implications of declining treatment. The GDC’s consent principles describe an ongoing clinical conversation, not just a signature or payment. They do not determine your UAE refund rights. Do not let an approaching reservation date replace the time you need to understand the proposed alteration of your teeth.

Keep the evidence and verify disputed terms
Retain the quotation, policy, receipt and dated messages about any change. Ask how a cancellation request should be submitted rather than assuming a social-media message reaches the correct team. If terms are unclear or disputed, seek appropriate independent advice before making further commitments. This guide invents no cooling-off period, mandatory refund rule, chargeback entitlement or local legal remedy and cannot decide whether an individual deposit is recoverable.
